Big Deals: Valeant Buys Medicis for $2.6B

Big news this week from Canadian drugmaker, Valeant Phamaceuticals International: the company announced on Monday that it had agreed to purchase Medicis Pharmaceuticals in a $2.6-billion deal that will boost its skin treatment offerings.

The New York Times reported on the deal earlier this week, referring to the “torid” pace of the company’s deal-making, and noting its 11 announced acquisitions this year.

Lexpert recently published a description of Valeant’s third amended and restated credit and guaranty agreement and, of course, its 2010 merger with Biovail.

Sullivan & Cromwell and Skadden represented Valeant, while Weil Gotshal and Latham & Watkins advised Medicis on the transaction.

The Am Law Daily has the listing of lawyers involved.
