The Barreau du Québec named its 21 Advocatus Emeritus honorees for 2012 on Tuesday.

The designation – created in 2007 – honours “members who gain distinction as a result of their outstanding professional career, outstanding contribution to the profession or outstanding social and community standing that has brought honour to the legal profession,” according to the Barreau website.

All are now qualified to use the Ad. E designation after their names.

Guy Pratte, partner and Chair of BLG’s National Council and recipient of a 2011 Lexpert Zenith award, is among the honorees, as is Réal Forest, a litigation partner in Blakes’ Montreal office.

John Nicholl and Mindy Paskell-Mede of Clyde & Co in Montreal are both honorees. They joined the firm last year in the merger between Clyde & Co  and insurance law firm, Nicholl Paskell-Mede.
